UPDATE 1/10/07:
Let me clarify: this blog site is an open-source forum supporting artist-driven discussion, review, education and action related to art and the art world.

Anyone can join, and anyone can post entries on issues that artists and art lovers care about. Blog entries and subsequent discussion could include the exchange of ideas about the promotion and sale of original works of painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, installation, and performance art, etc.

I love the idea of your site or what I thought was the idea. Artists selling their works directly, but I found all these gallery websites. Which means the artist is getting ripped and the art costs alot more, making it out of most peoples reach. I am an Interior Designer and art lover but I can't afford a $3,000 painting. And where are the prices? I only saw some jewelry with prices. If you could come up with a website for artists not yet known or represented with reasonable prices I could send all my designer friends the web address and soon things would take off. Or at least thats how I see it.

Hi Anonymous. Thanks for checking us out. This is artist-driven, so if you want to make it better just send me a note - info@artocracy.com - and get involved. It's easy to gripe - but much better to work on a solution together.

First of all, I want to say that it's an honor to be linked here. Secondly, inspired by the post from Anonymous, I'd like to clarify that my prices are as follows: $15 for 5x7; $20.00 for 6x9; $25.00 for 8x10; $30.00 for 11x14. Note cards (blank inside) are $3.50 each, or 5 for $15.00. Please e-mail me if you wish to make a purchase. And, by the way, I'm not at all paying an unreasonable price for my on-line gallery at oegallery.com -- unless you think $19.00 per year is unreasonable!

Thanks for the link. Do you think the links might be easier if they were not moving targets?

Otherwise, can't wait to see what's in store.
